National Week of Making 2017

Happy National Week of Making!

Today marks the first day of the National Week of Making, which lasts from June 16th-22nd. This week aims to celebrate the innovation, ingenuity, and creativity of makers around the world. We want to recognize and thank all of the makers, movers, shakers, and creators we have worked over the years from Haiti, to the Philippines, Nepal and now Greece. The ingenuity and creativity never ceases to amaze, without which we would not survive.

This week coincides with Greece Communitere’s Mobile Resource Center journey to Greece. Greece Communitere sourced a van, “Big Blue” and a trailer in Berlin for their Mobile Resource Center (MRC) to travel to refugee camps and communities around Greece. The MRC needs to make its way to Greece. Along the way, they are building out the center with the help of local maker communities and partner organizations, raising awareness of the refugee crisis, and hosting a series of community dinners to facilitate connection and open up critical conversation in solidarity with those who are not able to so freely cross borders. Follow the journey on Twitter @INTcommunitere and on the Global Innovation Gathering website here.
