We are activating our global disaster response network! Join us as we dust ourselves off and get to work.
Now, more than ever, we need to connect person-to-person, community-to-community, ecosystem-to-ecosystem. The scale of damage in Appalachia from the 2024 hurricane season served as a catalyst to reinvigorate the network, but no part of our planet will be untouched by climate change. The need for community-driven, globally-connected support systems has never been greater.
If you can contribute financially to our 501(c)(3), we will use the funds for appropriate insurance and to cover basic infrastructure costs. A small team based out of Tennessee is getting ready to start an assessment, and we’d like to cover their costs and provide a small stipend.
What this new iteration of Communitere looks like in practice will be determined by you. How can we be of service in your community? How might you design grassroots resiliency? How do you want to be involved?
If you have questions, ideas, thoughts to share, and/or are looking for fiscal sponsorship please email emma@communitere.org directly.
More about Communitere
The experienced disaster response and community engagement volunteers associated with Communtere take a collaborative approach, rooted in practical skills and respect for local knowledge and leadership. We remain committed to inclusive community-led and designed disaster response, rebuilding, and resiliency projects in the face of climate change impacts and unequal access to material support.
Communitere International was born in Haiti, and has responded to humanitarian needs in the Philippines, Nepal and Greece. Our resource centers served as maker spaces and hubs for local and international groups, organizations, entrepreneurs and individuals. We use our nonprofit to facilitate projects through access to resources, people and ideas. By doing this, we help reduce overhead for organizations and businesses and lower barriers for the local community.
Please consider donating to Haiti Communitere, they are a fully Haitian organization. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram. Haiti is undergoing a deeply hard time, with too many losses along the way. Our hearts are with our friends in that beautiful country.
Thank you for your patience as we refresh our website and get our feet underneath us.
We look forward to connecting and collaborating,
